Collaborative pianist Poh Kai Wen loves connecting people through music-making, a lifelong passion he discovered through playing the piano and cello.
A graduate of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (Bachelor of Music with Honours in Piano Performance), Kai Wen enjoys creating music with others, performing music in piano duos, chamber settings and student performances.
Music-making happens all the time for Kai Wen, whether it is through community engagements, performances, lessons or on a day-to-day level of personal conversation. He would grab the opportunity to play for others at the sight of a street piano and through available platforms including engagement sessions at hospitals and nursing homes.
Kai Wen currently teaches piano and music theory, and collaborates with young musicians on their music-making journeys.
Music-making aside, Kai Wen is also an avid public transport enthusiast, and co-founded Land Transport Guru as a platform to share his love for public transport. In 2020, he curated the Heritage Corner @ Woodlands Integrated Transport Hub together with SMRT Buses, a permanent exhibit featuring history and memorabilia of public buses.
